The sound of Bristol has gained international reputation through the success of famous groups such as: Tricky, Massive Attack and Portishead, while Bristol's comedy clubs provide the best in top-notch comedy.

SHOPPING

If students want to go out for shopping, they will certainly have a lot to choose from in this lively city. There´s is something for everyone, for the most sophisticated of tastes and all budgets from pocket money to big spenders.

In the center of Bristol, Broadmead and The Mall Galleries boast an enticing range of shops with all the familiar high street names and specialist independent stores, and plans are well underway for a major expansion. On the outer side of the city, The Mall at Cribbs Causeway is at Junction 17 of the M5. This is a very convenient and shopping-friendly complex with more than 135 stores and over 17 restaurants and cafes, all under one huge roof.

The elegant shops of Bristol's West End, Whiteladies Road and Clifton Village are magnets for people looking for jewellery, art and crafts, designer clothes or antiques. Besides this, there are plenty of cafes and restaurants along the way so you can rest your weared down feet (and bags!) while you’re at it!

PARKS

There are a lot of parks where lots and lots of (international) students go to to relax and to enjoy the natural environment. They are also a very good way to read, whether it is in your study book or not!
Bristol has over 450 diverse parks and open spaces from the large historic estates of Ashton Court and Blaise Castle Estate to local parks of Canford and Victoria. Bristol also has a lot of wildlife areas which include the internationally famous Avon Gorge to Local Nature Reserves such as Royate Hill and Lawrence Weston Moor.

More than 24 million visits are made to Bristol's parks and open spaces on a yearly base, with Ashton Court and Blaise Castle estates being two of the most popular parks in the country.
Bristol's parks are also interesting because they house many events and activities each year from music concerts and play days to guided walks and practical activities. Bristol is more and more recognized as a vibrant cultural city attracting event organizers for larger events. The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta and Ashton Court Festival are longstanding events at Ashton Court Estate, promoting mostly local creative talent.
